The Bedding of Our Lives!

So, I've been looking for crib bedding sets and I haven't been able to find a lot that I like that wasn't a billion dollars. Then this evening I had the amazing thought to check our dear friend Amazon. Where I found this lovely!

that reverses!

It's a 10 piece set that's listed for 180 but amazon had it on sale for 57! Tron liked it and I liked it so we said Deal! Hopefully we like it when it comes. woo hoo for deals!

Random Things This Pregnant Girl Thinks About.

I've noticed that people gain weight in different ways. Some are target area weight gainers, some are all over, and some...ok I can only think of those two. I am one of the all over weight gainers. which I am not a fan of. There are really only two places on my body that don't gain weight when I do. One being my arms the other my boobs (which is weird because that's usually the only plus for people when they gain weight). Well and I guess my feet, but really who gains weight in their feet? Anyhow, the only reason I think of this is....my face. I totally get chubby face, which is no good. I am already prone to getting double chin even at my skinniest. Here's the reason: I have a weird chin that points when I smile. Not the whole jaw just the chin, creating a line between the jaw and the chin creating the lovely double chin. It's delightful I just love it let me tell ya. Anyhow, I look at these cute girls who are gaining weight because they're pregnant too, but they are mostly target gainers and their faces aren't effected. I'm totally jealous. I know I shouldn't care and it will go back to normal (well mostly normal and I hope!), but right now it'd be nice to have a skinny face. ha ha ha I think you feel more sexy with a skinny face. chubby face just makes you feel cute.

I am totally in nesting mode lately. I'm not wanting to nest the way most women do. I don't want to get the nursery all ready and put together. ( Probably because that would require cleaning out the office/random crap room, but that's besides the point.) And don't get me wrong I am obviously doing things and makings for the baby as you have seen in posts below. But not sure if that's nesting or me loving to sew so I'm doing the project to have something to do, probably both. Anyhow, I have been wanting to make our apartment look more home like. I want everything to match, things hung on the wall, and decorations for the seasons. Maybe it's because I want to feel more like a mom and in my mind that's what moms do, who knows. Oh well, that's that.

Ok, now just or kicks and giggles I'm going to make a list of random things that make my heart happy:

Buttons. I love buttons and have since I was young. Little known fact I used to collect buttons. (probably started when I went to a craft store with my mom and they barrels filled with buttons and I just sat there the whole time putting my hands in them. I LOVED the feeling)

Tough guys who are really sweet, soft, and sensitive. Lisa's blog reminded me of this. I used to have this friend named Dan. He was was 6'4" and very large in stature. He could pick me up and throw me around with ease, and he was a cage fighter. But what I loved most about this friend is that he was SO sweet. And he was studying Hebrew and ancient Israel. I don't know about you guys, but cage fighting and that stuff don't always go together. Anyhow, his happy balance always made me happy.

Amazing Voices. I LOVE them, and cry when I hear them. For instance, a few years ago when Audra McDonald came and sang with the MoTab I went to see it. When she came out and started to sing I started to bawl. Same thing happened when I went to Mamma Mia when it came to Utah. I also cry when I listen to Ragtime, every time I listen to it. I can't help it.

The Butterflies I get when I see Tron for the first time of the day. You'd think after almost 4 years I'd not still get super excited to see him, but I do and I get butterflies in my stomach every time. (cheesy, but whatever)

Magic. I LOVE the idea of magic, fairies, elves, and witches. I can't even express to you how much I wish it were real.

Hugs from really large people. I don't know why, but I think it feels homey.

Old fashion candy shops. I don't really like candy, but I LOVE a cute little candy shop.

The click that happens when you turn on a lamp.

Cracking through thin shells. Such as: ice, creme brulee, hollow chocolates.

New shoes

And washing my hands with fake nails on. Don't ask me why, I can't explain it. I just love it.

Project 4

Alright, the changing table came with these 5 baskets. But they came with these hideous blue linings that had become green on the bottom from who knows what. So, I took them off and made these. I really like the way they turned out. The color might not be the best in the pictures. The fabric in the two big baskets is green with a white square print and a brown bow. The fabric in the three smaller ones is brown with a white paisley-ish print and a green bow. I love the fabric. Anyhow, here they are:

Here's all of them and yes, that is Mrs. Doubtfire.

Here are just the little ones

Just a close up

Here are the big two

And the close up

There you have it. One step closer to being ready for Oliver Tron or Finnley Tron. (still undecided)

Project 3 is Done!

Ok, I made the changing pad, and may I just say I hate sewing on low gauge vinyl more than anything in this world. It has taken the number 1 spot on my list of things I HATE to sew on. Followed closely by Burlap.

Anyhow, here it is:

The extra piece you saw is the washable Changing Pad cover. I put velcro on there to keep it in place. It turned out alright, but needless to say not my best or favorite project to say the least. Damn you Vinyl.

Project 2 Completed!

Well, at least my part of project 2, Tron still has to screen print an owl in a tree on it. It took a few days to finish the diaper bag for one reason: They don't carry 2 inch strap adjusters or the strap holders anywhere! So, finally a took one of my bags and took off the things I needed. The pattern didn't have an adjustable strap and the strap pattern piece it provided wasn't long enough so I made one up myself. Also, there was no pattern for the shoulder pad, and knowing how I pack bags I'll be needing one. So, I just threw one of those together too. I really like the way it turned out. Sewing things for a baby is so fun! (I totally could have made that a pun)

Here is the finished product:

The side pocket/bottle holder

The back pocket for the changing pad (which is being made next)

The inside with the 4 large pockets

And just for kicks here's a close up of the strap and shoulder pad

Project 1 Completed!

I didn't exactly take a day off from labor like is recommended. Instead, I recovered the Glider Rocking Chair and Ottoman we bought for the Nursery. Tron and I picked out the fabric and we both love it. Yes, there are flowers on it, but I think it's not really girly. ha ha Even if it is really the chair is for me. :)

Before

The New Fabric

After I'd unpicked everything, and the new foam to make it more padded and comfortable.

Our dear friend Alex who was here watching movies went to get his spare staple gun and then gave it to me. Which I am very grateful for. Thank you Alex! Anyhow, I stapled the fabric on the ottoman and finished it first. Here it is

And here is the Finished Product! I think it turned out pretty good. I like it much better than what it used to be.

Anniversary Celebration!

Here's how we celebrated our Anniversary:

We decided that since Tron would be in school during our anniversary we'd take a little trip the weekend before. (disclaimer: I am doing a lot of weird smiles in these pictures so beware)

It Started on the the 20th of August. We went to a free show in Salt Lake, Okkervil River was playing with Iron and Wine. (Okkervil River is one of Tron's all time favorite bands Check my playlist to get a listen to them)

It was awesome! We met up with a bunch of people and just had a lovely time listening and talking. Iron and Wine sounds so different live. His voice doesn't sound the same at all.

The next day was Friday, We slept in, then went swimming, followed by dinner at our favorite restaurant The Olive Garden. I just can't get enough of their minestrone soup lovin'. After that we went to the Drive-In for the first time in Tron's life! He loved it. And I'm always down for watching a movie in comfort. And yes those are my ever so lovely swollen feet and hand.

Saturday was our last day. We slept in a bit because our check out time was the lovely time of 12. (best Check out time ever!) We then went to the Bohemian Brewery for lunch. My sister in law Em told us about this place. We went to check out the ever famous Garlic Fries. Which are in Em's top 5 things she's ever eaten! They were delicious. I wouldn't say they were top 5 worthy, but I did have a bit of a stuffy nose so I probably didn't get the full effect. I still would say they need to be checked out by all. We then went to visit my brother Jon, his wife Liz, and their little boy Max. We hung out with them for a little while then we all went swimming. Max was freaking cute in his little hat. And that was all of our weekend. Oh and later that night we went to my friend Jessica's going away party. No pictures though too bad because it was a mustache party.

We then celebrated again on our actual anniversary. It was really fun. I woke up to these notes leading me down the hall to Roses and my Favorite Doritos. I thought it was so cute. Just something little and I loved it. ( I won't put up all the notes. That would take far too long.)

After Tron got home from School and work. I gave him my gift which was just a heartfelt card and a white hanky which we found out he was lacking the week before. It has the Salt Lake temple on it where we were married. My friend and I tried to put our anniversary on it but the bobbin kept freaking out, but I'll get it. I didn't get a picture of it though. After Tron got ready We went to the Logan Temple and did Sealings. It was so great. I love doing sealings even if it makes my butt hurt. But what we thought was funny was that we were the only couple who didn't do any wedding sealings we only did parents and children. Figures huh.

After the Temple we came back changed, went and rented a couple movies for later then headed to Wendy's. We went to Wendy's on our actual wedding day after we finished taking pictures at the temple. We are big fans. ha ha ha

After our super fancy dinner we headed to Spoon Me where I got a delicious fruit filled frozen yogurt, then to sweetly divine where Tron got a cream cheese danish. Then to Movies 5 to see 500 Days of Summer yet again. We love that movie. It's so clever and great. I recommend it to everyone.

Then it was time to eat the Cake top. We didn't eat the whole thing. We each just took a bite. But bringing out that top was just a reminder of how beautiful our cake was. Even if it now looked a little deformed. I seriously loved the look of that cake.

After we ate some of the cake it was time to do Tron's favorite part of the evening. It was time to smash the rest of the cake top with a golf club. He decided he was going to tee off with it. So we went to an empty field by our house and whacked the crap out of our beautiful cake top. Tron was really happy. But we had to be really quiet and quick because we were trespassing. whoops.

We did not mean to make the same face, but it happened and I like it.

After our late night cake killing adventure we went home and watched the soloist. Good times good times. It was a wonderful anniversary. I loved it.
